What Is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice that involves physical poses, concentration, and deep breathing. Today, it is one of the most popular and beloved forms of exercise and meditation. According to Yogi Times, there are 300 million people in the world who practice yoga in 2021.

Yoga is an 8 limb practice that includes balancing the mind and body.

Yamas: 5 restraints, free up energy by practicing these restraints

Niyamas: 5 observances, free up energy by cultivating these behaviours

Asana: poses, physical practice of yoga

Pranayama: breathing techniques to control the prana (life force)

Pratyahara: control of the 5 senses, drawing the focus inward

Dharana: concentration on a single object

Dhyana: meditation

Samadhi: union with the divine, bliss

Our Port Jefferson Station team of instructors are certified and have an abundance of experience and knowledge to accommodate all levels from beginners to advanced. As a collective we will move and breathe, shifting and releasing the suffering we encounter daily in the physical and psychological form. After each class you will leave feeling healthier and with a new awareness of the mind and body.

Yoga Classes we offer:

Vinyasa (60 mins)- Yoga sequence that builds physical strength, flexibility and stamina while staying connected to the breath.

Hatha (60 mins)-Yoga Sequence that is gentle and holding poses for a longer period of time. (5 breaths per pose).

Restorative (60 mins)-A gentle yoga practice using props such as folded blankets, and blocks to relax the body and is used to reduce stress.

Yin (75 mins) slow-paced yoga practice where asanasa are held for longer periods of time.

Meditation (60 mins)- a practice that is centered around connecting to the breath so one can shift their attention inward and gain a better understanding and awareness of inner thoughts and beliefs.

Sound Healing (60 mins) Through the awareness of energy there is a vibration which touches every part of our physical being. We can understand the power of energy to heal down to the cellular level. The human organism is a complex set of frequencies that create electro-matic or energy fields. When we listen to singing bowls, the vibrations created can shift the vibrations within oneself. The body and the brain waves synchronized with the external sound encouraging the body into a state of deep relation.

Open/Free Flows (60 mins)- A practice that combines all of the teachings of yoga to meet the energy in the room.

Private Sessions available: Inquire within

Workshops: 3 hours or Weekend workshops:
Vision Boards, guest speakers, creating, and exploring given a larger time period with breaks, snacks, and materials included. The topics will be reflected based on the community and clients needs. (Inversions, Aryavada, Hand balances, Breathing techniques, Nutrition classes, and Acro Yoga)
